Jealous Is Our God

Wow, where does the time go?! In the last ten days we have been to Arizona for a relaxing visit with family, a visit to Sedona to marvel at the view, and a break from the busyness of schedule.

Now I am back, and pondering a God who is jealous. Will, who is our team leader at Towson University, shared last night at the campus Bible study about this caring, loving God that we have. It is so amazing to think that He loves me so much that He is jealous for me!

Jealousy, to me, is motivated from a sense that I cannot do without someone, and I am afraid that someone else will steal their heart from me. Put in these terms, Godly jealousy is really something to think upon.

God loves us so much that he does not want to be without us! Really, though, I think it is that He does not want us to be without Him, and all that He has for us. All He wants for us is all we are entitled to as heirs of God in Romans 8:17. There is an allotment that has been set aside for each of us. We are entitled to it. It contains our call, our purpose, and the ingredients for abundant life. No one can take my inheritance away from me. It is rightfully mine because of sonship. I only need to receive it. Think of it...a person only needs to receive an inheritance to enjoy it. There is nothing that they could have done to earn it. It was the owner of the estate that determined who would be blessed and how. There is no questioning it. The benefactor has spoken, and His Word cannot be changed.

Thus, God is jealous. He wants all of his heirs to receive what is rightfully theirs! He dreads the thought that they may be wooed by another, and thereby miss their blessing!

Receive your inheritance today, if you have not yet done so! Ask the Benefactor for His gift of Life to you!
